Specialists in sheet metal folding
D&M has six CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) press brakes that can fold a considerable range of material thicknesses. This can range from as little as 0.7mm up to 20mm. The machines’ fantastic accuracy and speed allow us to work with metal up to a maximum length of 4 meters.
We operate with some of the most modern machines available. They are eco-friendly and energy-saving, thereby making them very environmentally friendly. We utilise the very best computer software and skilled staff to manufacture various sheet metal folded products.
All of our machines feature both manual and CNC control. Our experienced operators are proficient in various sheet metal folding, forming and bending techniques. Our sheet metal folding services work perfectly in tandem with our other primary services, such as laser cutting and fabrication, to allow us to offer a complete in house service for all of your sheet metal fabrication needs.
Our capabilities are suitable for any size of business needs

What is sheet metal folding?
Sheet metal folding covers sheet metal bending, folding, and pressing into a predetermined shape. Metal bending is used to create many different products. Due to the nature of sheet metal, it can be reshaped in many ways. This can include rolling, indenting, bending and shearing.
In a typical setting, sheet metal bending would be carried out on a press brake machine. The machines use strong tensile and shear forces to bend, fold and punch the sheet metal into the required shape. Some progressive metal folding technologies now include automated panel bender machines and high-speed bending cells.
Why choose CNC press braking?
This is the most accurate way of folding sheet metal. CNC press brakes are environmentally friendly and highly versatile.
CNC Press brakes can form complicated multi-angle parts quickly. They offer unrivalled flexibility giving them the ability to fold complex pieces.
Due to the way the Amada CNC Press Brake works, constantly adjusting itself to the bend requirements. It uses less energy, reduces maintenance and oil consumption and lowers noise levels.
Hydraulic press brakes are incredibly versatile machines; with the ability to fold a variety of metals, as well as a variety of different bends and shapes. They can easily create more intricate folds, such as incremental folds.
Guaranteed accurate results
CNC press brakes are highly accurate and can produce consistent results across the entire bend length no matter how much pressure is applied.

Folding sheet metal consists of positioning the sheet metal over the die block; the metal is then pressed into the die block, causing the bend. When bending occurs, there is a certain level of spring-back that happens. This needs to be compensated for in the initial calculations of the bend to ensure that the bend is completed correctly. This differs for each type of material.
The most common way to fold sheet metal is with a press brake machine. We currently have 6 CNC press brakes here at D&M.
The bend radius in sheet metal fabrication refers to the inside of the bend. The bend radius depends on the dies used in the process.
When bending sheet metal, there is a certain degree of spring-back, this varies for each type of material, but this does mean that to get the correct result, you must over calculate the bend to allow for the spring-back.
CNC press brakes can fold a variety of materials including:
- Mild Steel
- Coated steels
- Stainless steel
