3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering Services

3D Scanning Services

Reverse Engineering Solutions

Our 3D scanning services provide a fast and accurate way to digitise physical objects for 3D printing, reverse engineering, CAD modelling and more. We offer a complete scanning service for objects ranging from 0.1 – 3.0m in size.

We can quickly reverse engineer parts, creating precise digitised models. Our scanner works with CAD software such as Solidworks, allowing us to extract all the information we need and import it straight into our CAD software. We can then draw directly onto the part creating accurate drawings based on the original component.

Whatever your needs, our scanning services are the ideal solution. We can scan parts to develop safety equipment for use with the machine, and we can use the scanner to repair broken components quickly. We can scan your parts before they break, meaning that we can create spare parts for your machinery before the machine shuts down.

What is Reverse Engineering?

Reverse engineering is looking at an existing object, breaking it down into its core components rather than measuring them; this allows the part to be recreated or redesigned based on the original dimensions. It helps to understand how a part was made and how to recreate it or build on it. This can be done through 3D technology such as 3D scanners, then reconstructing the part using 3D modelling software such as Solidworks.

Advantages

Why choose 3D Scanning?

3D scanning has many advantages that make it the perfect choice for your needs.

Speed and Accuracy

3D scanning allows you to quickly gather millions of measurable data points allowing us to guarantee accurate data.

Saves time in the Design Stage

Objects can be quickly scanned and digitised using 3D scanners, decreasing the amount of time needed to draw complex designs.

Replace Lost CAD Files

If a CAD file has been lost but the part still exists we can use a 3D scanner to scan the part then use reverse engineering software to create a new CAD model of the part.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about 3D scanning

We have the answers to all your reverse engineering questions, have a look at our frequently asked questions below. If you can’t find the answer you are looking for, get in touch, and a member of the team will be on hand to help you with any questions you might have. Call us on 01765 522 222 or send us an email.

What is 3D Scanning?

3D scanning is the process of scanning a real world part, collecting data including measurements and appearance and creating a digital model of that part.

Can you scan at my premises?

Our scanner is completely portable so we are happy to scan either at your premises or ours.

Does 3D scanning damage the part?

Our 3D scanner is non-contact meaning that it will not damage the part in anyway.

We sometimes use AESUB scanning scanning spray which dissolves on it’s own, there is no pigment in the spray and no cleaning is required.

Latest Technologies

We use the latest equipment.

We use the Peel 3 3D scanner whish is a completely portable hand held scanner. Ideally suited for reverse engineering, it can easily extract all the information we need from parts and then import that data straight into our CAD software.
