Powder Coating Operative

We are a successful, fast-paced sheet metal subcontracting business based near Ripon, North Yorkshire. We are proud and passionate about our business and are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work in our Powder Coating department, powder-coating sheet metal products to an immaculate standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • General preparation work, which may include shot blasting, in order to get items ready for powder coating.
  • Priming and powder coating an extensive range of sheet metal products for different customers.
  • Hanging and removing items from the powder coating line.
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of the powder coating workshop is needed to ensure everything is always immaculate.
  • Maintaining Health and Safety standards, including following instructions and wearing of appropriate PPE.
  • Carry out a rigorous quality check on powder-coated items before they are packaged, for example, checking paint thickness is correct.
  • Assist with Goods Out: Wrap/ package items to a very high standard to avoid damage in transit. Itemise/ prepare items for delivery.
  • Check powder stock levels and liaise with the purchasing department to order our standard range of powder colours.
  • Pro-active communication with colleagues, managers and office staff in relation to production, quality and Health and Safety issues.
  • Carry out other tasks as required e.g. assist with production in the Workshop.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Good engineering background.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings/ follow instructions.
  • Previous experience of working in a powder coating workshop is an advantage but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Very strong eye for detail, to finish parts to an immaculate standard.
  • Strong team player who works well with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to inspect own work and demonstrate honesty to report any quality issues.
  • Must be able to work in a confined space (when blasting).
  • Able to prioritise workload and adapt positively and efficiently to last-minute changes.
  • Good general education, including English and Maths.

Due to our rural location, you must hold a valid driving licence and have your own transport.

Working Hours/ Benefits Package:

Contract:
Full Time, Permanent

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 07:30 to 16:00
Must be willing to be flexible and available for overtime when required

Salary:
Rate of pay is negotiable depending on experience
