International Men’s Day: Celebrating the Men of D&M Design and Fabrication Ltd

In honour of International Men’s Day, we wanted to take the time to appreciate the men who work at D&M and acknowledge their hard work. This day isn’t just about acknowledging the men in our lives and showing them appreciation; it is also about raising awareness for issues that affect men, including the importance of men’s health, both mentally and physically.

Appreciating our Team

Men make up the majority of our team, from the fabricators and designers to the managers and workshop assistants. Everyone brings their own unique skills to the table, helping us to be the sheet metal fabrication team we are today and creating quality parts that our customers have come to rely on day in and day out. So, today, we would like to thank you for the commitment, hard work, and creativity you bring to D&M; we wouldn’t be where we are without you.

Men’s Mental Health

Today isn’t just about recognising the men in our lives; it’s also about raising awareness of tough subjects such as men’s mental health. This is often a difficult topic for men to discuss openly; men are less likely to seek help for mental health issues, and this has a huge impact, with suicide rates among men remaining scarily high. Men are 3 times more likely to commit suicide than women.

The stigma around mental health can be a tough barrier, but at D&M, we want to encourage a culture of support, communication, and empathy. Talking about mental health openly can make a big difference. Simple acts of checking in on colleagues, friends, or family can make a huge difference. Sharing when you feel overwhelmed and being supportive of others when they feel overwhelmed can be life-changing.

We want to encourage everyone to keep the conversation going. No problem is too small to share, and no one should feel alone. Don’t be afraid to reach out to a colleague, friend, or family member for help in tough times. Here at D&M, we want to continue to foster a supportive work environment where it is okay to be open, honest, and vulnerable about things.

It’s Okay to Talk

Thank you to all our colleagues at D&M who help to foster a supportive work environment. Your hard work, strength and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we appreciate everyone who works here. Let’s continue to support each other, not just today but every day.

For anyone who may be struggling or knows someone who might be, please remember: it’s okay to talk. If you are struggling and want support, remember there are options available:
