Welcome to another instalment of our employee spotlight series. This month’s spotlight is on Nithin, one of our Sales CAD Assistants. We asked Nithin a series of questions to get to know him better.
How long have you worked at D&M, and what brought you here?
I’ve been with D&M Design & Fabrication for one year. I was looking for a work-from-home opportunity and found a role that I genuinely enjoy, one that allows me to grow as an engineer while maintaining a healthy work–life balance, which is very important to me.
What does your job entail?
My responsibilities include interpreting client requirements, producing detailed CAD drawings, and preparing competitive quotations. I work closely with customers and suppliers to ensure quality, accuracy and timely delivery.
What do you like most about your job?
What I value most is the work–life balance. The introduction of new customer requirements each day keeps the role dynamic and engaging. I enjoy working on challenging projects and being part of a supportive team that encourages growth and collaboration.
What is working at D&M like?
Working here has been a refreshing and positive experience, particularly in terms of teamwork and support, which makes it a truly rewarding place to work. The team is extremely supportive and offers guidance at every stage. Although I am based in India, the collaboration and communication make it feel as though we are working side by side, despite the 4,700-mile distance.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself continuing to grow in my role, developing my technical expertise, and contributing even more to the team’s success.
What was your very first job?
My first role was as a Junior Design Engineer, where I was involved in designing and manufacturing lubrication systems.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I cherish spending time with my three-year-old child and going for long walks around my farm. Being with my pets and enjoying the calm and beauty of nature helps me unwind; it’s my perfect escape and happy place.
Can you tell us a fun fact / fun story about yourself?
I am not sure how it happens, but whenever I visit my parents’ home at the weekends, the family cats somehow seem to know I’m there. The moment they spot me, they demand treats and won’t leave me alone until I give in!
What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
At the weekends, I enjoy binge-watching web series and sometimes end up completing an entire season in just one day — once I start, it’s hard to stop.
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
One of the biggest ambitions on my bucket list is to design and build my dream home.
