Welcome to another instalment of our employee spotlight series. This month’s spotlight is on Michelle, a member of our production team. We asked Michelle a series of questions to get to know her better.
How long have you worked at D&M, and what brought you here?
I have ‘officially’ worked at D&M for 6 years.
I started working voluntarily in the Press Brake and Assembly departments for 3 years before I was employed full-time.
My husband, my husband brought me here!
What does your job entail?
Mostly booking orders that customers send in.
Lots of liaising with customers with regards to lead times, delivery dates and any other information relating to their orders.
We work closely with all other departments within D&M to make sure the jobs are on schedule etc.
What do you like most about your job?
The people I like the most, especially in my office! But also the fact I can bring my dog to work.
The general busyness and the pressure of the job role. Every day is different and you know you’ve done a days work by 5pm as some days can be mentally exhausting.
What is working at D&M like?
It’s a fabulous place to work, although I may be a bit biased!
I have worked for other companies but this is by far the best.
With so many different ages and personalities of staff it makes it a nice place to work when the days get tough.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I take each year as it comes, but hopefully still as healthy and active and able to enjoy life as much as I do now.
What was your very first job?
My very first job was a paper round when I was 14, as soon as I turned 18 I was working in pubs.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Most of my free time is spent with my husband on our Motocross Bikes as often as we can.
Or at the British Superbike Rounds where Mike is currently spending time with a brand new team.
I also complete Park Runs on a Saturday morning and a Running Club on a Monday evening.
Can you tell us a fun fact / fun story about yourself?
I learnt to ride a motocross bike at the grand old age of 46!
What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
At the moment, I’m reading anything by Freida McFadden. Her books are amazing. I must have read eight of them so far and never saw the ending coming!
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
So one thing on my bucket list is to go to the Isle of Man TT, which is happening next week!!
