Welcome to another instalment of our employee spotlight series. This month’s spotlight is on one of our Fabricators, Michael. We asked Michael a series of questions to get to know him better.
How long have you worked at D&M, and what brought you here?
For nearly 8 years, I wanted to learn how to weld, and D&M was the closest Fabrication company to where I lived, so I applied and have been here ever since.
What does your job entail?
My job is quite varied and involves various things, but the main aspects of my role are TIG & MIG welding and fully fabricating parts from sheet metal.
What do you like most about your job?
I really enjoy making things; seeing them go from sheet metal to fully fabricated components is a really enjoyable part of my job. I also really enjoy TIG welding and love any opportunity to do that.
What is working at D&M like?
No two days are the same, which I really enjoy. It’s a bit like being on a rollercoaster. Some days are really busy with lots of small parts to fabricate and lots of different projects to work on, and other days, I can be working on one big project for several days at a time.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Over the past couple of years, I have grown a keen interest in CNC machining, so maybe in the future, I will be working on CNC machines and learning to program, but who really knows what the future holds?
What was your very first job?
My first job was as a plasterer, and I am actually fully trained and qualified to be a plasterer.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love snowboarding, PC gaming, wood-turning, and listening to bluegrass and country music in my free time.
What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
I just finished watching Kenobi.
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
I would love to go to Disney World in Florida with my girlfriend and snowboard in America.
