Employee Spotlight: Janette, Digital Marketing Manager

Welcome to another instalment of our employee spotlight series. This month’s spotlight is on our Digital Marketing Manager, Janette. We asked Janette a series of questions to get to know her better.

How long have you worked at D&M, and what brought you here?

I have been working at D&M for nearly two years, which has flown by. Coming here was an exciting opportunity to work in an industry I had never worked with before. Metal fabrication was something that I knew nothing about before starting here, but the chance to learn all about this sector and the different things we do has been really interesting for me.

What does your job entail?

My job is really varied; I look after everything related to marketing, which allows me to do lots of different things. During my time here so far, I have designed and built websites, created content for the websites, managed the social media channels, run our Google Ad campaigns, reported on our online activities, learnt photography, photo editing, videography, and video editing, as well as many other things. No two days are the same as my job is constantly adapting to needs; there are always lots of things to keep me busy here.

What do you like most about your job?

I really enjoy the variety of work that there is to do, and I find it rewarding seeing the work I do help to promote D&M.

I am constantly learning, and having never worked in this sector before, it has taken a lot of time for me to learn and understand the different things we do. I am still learning every day, which I love, and I hope that I continue to do so.

What is working at D&M like?

The team at D&M is fantastic – supportive, helpful, and always up for a challenge. I’ve built some great friendships since starting here.

As part of my job, I ask a lot of questions and often think I annoy everyone with them and my constant attempts to video them working, but no one ever seems to mind; everyone always helps out where they can. Everyone here is really helpful and supportive of their colleagues, which makes D&M a great place to work.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I wouldn’t say I like to look too far into the future, but for now, I can say I am happy where I am – working at D&M. Hopefully, in five years, I will still be progressing in my career.

What was your very first job?

I grew up on my family farm, so I spent a lot of my childhood helping out on the farm; we would come home from school and help finish the evening jobs, milking the cows, feeding the calves etc. After that, my first official job was working in Greggs – I was a Saturday girl there throughout my late teens.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy finding new places to walk my little sausage dog, Martha. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family.

What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?

I am currently watching Sons of Anarchy, which is great, and I would recommend it to anyone who hasn’t already watched it.

What’s one thing on your bucket list?

I would love to go back to Australia one day; it’s such a beautiful country. I am also a bit of a movie fan, so I would love to go to LA to do the studio tours and see where some of my favourite movies were filmed.
