Welcome to another instalment of our employee spotlight series. This month’s spotlight is on Deep, one of our Sales CAD Assistants. We asked Deep a series of questions to get to know him better.

How long have you worked at D&M, and what brought you here?

I have been with D&M Design & Fabrication for around 10 months. I was looking for a work-from-home opportunity so that I could stay close to my family and work with full focus. I was fortunate to get this role.

What does your job entail?

My role involves analysing client specifications, creating precise CAD designs, and preparing accurate cost estimates. I also coordinate with customers and suppliers to ensure that projects meet quality standards, remain accurate, and are delivered on schedule.

What do you like most about your job?

One of the aspects I value most about my role is the ability to maintain a good balance between my professional and personal life. The job remains interesting because new client requirements arise regularly, bringing variety to the work. I find it rewarding to tackle complex engineering tasks and to work alongside a team that supports each other and fosters continuous development.

What is working at D&M like?

Working at D&M is a positive experience. The team members are very supportive, and the work is carried out in a well-structured and systematic way. Whenever guidance is needed, colleagues are always willing to help, which makes it easier to learn and perform the work effectively.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I see myself as a highly skilled and experienced engineer, contributing to innovative projects and taking on greater responsibilities. I aim to continue growing professionally, enhancing my technical expertise. While maintaining a strong work–life balance and staying engaged with meaningful, challenging work.

What was your very first job?

My first job was with a company that designs and manufactures equipment for industries like sanitary ware and technical ceramics. I gained hands-on experience in industrial engineering, which laid the foundation for my career.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, spending quality time with my family, playing cricket, and going for walks to stay active and refreshed.

Can you tell us a fun fact / fun story about yourself?

A fun fact about me is that I once tried organising a cricket match with friends and family to unwind after a busy week. What started as a casual game quickly turned competitive, with lots of laughter, playful arguments over “rules,” and some surprisingly impressive plays. It was a great reminder that teamwork and a bit of fun can make even ordinary moments memorable.

What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?

I’m currently binge-watching the movie “War Machine.” I enjoy its mix of strategy, leadership insights—it’s both entertaining and thought-provoking.

What’s one thing on your bucket list?

One thing on my bucket list is to travel and explore places with rich history, art, and architecture. Experiencing such culturally vibrant locations would be inspiring both personally and professionally.
