Employee Spotlight: Claire, Admin and Accounts Assistant

Welcome to another instalment of our employee spotlight series. This month’s spotlight is on Claire, our Admin and Accounts Assistant. We asked Claire a series of questions to get to know her better.

How long have you worked at D&M, and what brought you here?

I started in June 2024. I had worked in the care industry for about 7 years but wasn’t enjoying it anymore and felt I needed a change. I love the fact that at D&M, I see the full life cycle of the product.

What does your job entail?

I process all supplier invoices for payment, generate and issue invoices to customers, scan paperwork and reconcile payments.

I also handle the BS EN 1090 jobs, ensuring we have all the necessary certificates.

What do you like most about your job?

Getting to the bottom of a mystery and correcting the errors.

What is working at D&M like?

I really like the calm (generally!) atmosphere in the office, which helps me to concentrate, but I also love that everyone is friendly and we can enjoy a laugh.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Grey-haired from dealing with two teenagers!

What was your very first job?

Well, I had a paper round, but my first ‘proper’ job was dog walking a lovely collie called Stan.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love reading (particularly murder mysteries). I keep hens, and we have two allotments. Most of all, I love spending time with friends and family.

Can you tell us a fun fact / fun story about yourself?

I sleep walk, and used to ride up and down in the lift at my student accommodation in my PJs. I also like to switch lights on and off and wake people to tell them random stories. I will argue with anyone trying to get me back to bed.

What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?

I have just finished ‘None of this is True’ by Lisa Jewell.

I am watching The Traitors on BBC One. I have really enjoyed the past two series, but I find the contestants in this one annoying!

What’s one thing on your bucket list?

I don’t have a bucket list, but I’ve always wanted to travel on the Orient Express.
