Employee Spotlight: Ayrton, Welder / Fabricator

Welcome to another instalment of our employee spotlight series. This month’s spotlight is one of our fabricators, Ayrton. We asked Ayrton a series of questions to get to know him better.

How long have you worked at D&M, and what brought you here?

I started at D&M over 11 years ago, I came here for work experience, whilst at school, and just never left.

What does your job entail?

The main aspects of my job involve TIG & MIG welding to a very high standard, as well as fabricating sheet metal products. My role also involves working as a team to get the jobs done quickly and efficiently.

What do you like most about your job?

A wide variety of different jobs come through the workshop so that keeps things really interesting and I also get the opportunity to learn different skills as I go.

What is working at D&M like?

It’s a busy environment with an array of different projects going on. It’s also full of great people who are full of banter, which really makes the jobs and days go by really quickly.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Continuing to progress my capabilities here at D&M, and in the autograss field.

What was your very first job?

Here at D&M!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Autograss racing, mountain biking and watching or participating in other motorsports.

Can you tell us a fun fact/story about yourself?

I was named after a famous racing car driver, Ayrton Senna.

What if anything are you currently binge-watching, or reading?

I just finished watching Brassic on Netflix.

What’s one thing on your bucket list

I really want to go back to America but this time to see the Daytona 500 and to watch the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.
