D&M Design & Fabrication Ltd
D&M Design and Fabrication Ltd has been providing high-quality manufacturing and fabrication services nationally for over 15 years from its location in the heart of Yorkshire.
Founded in 2010 by Michael Barratt and Dave Mawer, D&M started as a two-man band working out of a small shed on Dave’s family farm. Due to their constant hard work and determination, the business has grown and now employs over 50 employees in various skilled positions.
Since its beginning, the company has invested in the latest machinery, software, and exceptional staff to provide a professional, high-quality, and bespoke service to all its customers.

We have a wide range of services to suit everyone’s metal fabrication needs, including CAD Design, Laser Cutting, Deburring, Metal Folding, Welding and Finishing Services. We also have a fully equipped machine shop with CNC Milling and Turning machines. Our 3D Printing services enable us to offer rapid prototyping services.
Our History
Established by Dave Mawer and Michael Barratt, D&M started out with just one press brake machine in a shed on Dave’s family farm.
In July of that same year we installed a built-in powder coating oven, allowing us to increase the services we offer.
The following year we added a second press brake machine to allow us to increase the amount we could fold.
This allowed us to not only increase our offerings but it enabled us enough space to install a new laser cutting machine.
We installed the new Bystronic ByLaser 3300 Fiber Laser Cutter meaning we could now laser cut in house.
New racking was installed to allow us to stock more sheet metal.
We wanted to create a dedicated space for our drawing office so we started work on an upstairs office that overlooked the workshop.
To add to our ever increasing services we Installed the new NS Maquinas DM1100CZK deburring machine. This added to our ever growing list of services available meaning that we could now offer CAD, laser cutting, deburring, folding, welding and powder coating.
We completed the build of the new drawing office, allowing us to expand the team and grow our CAD services.
We installed a new Amada HFE 3i 2204 press brake making the total number of press brakes we had three.
We created a brand new fabrication area, allowing us to expand the team and to create a dedicated area for our fabricators.
The Amada HFE M2 8025 was added to our rang of presees, taking our total to four press brake machines.
The following year we added the Amada HFE 3i 2204 and the Amada HFE M2 8025 press brakes taking our total number of press brakes to six, drastically increasing our folding capacity.
We built a brand new building that was designed to house our brand new Bystronic Laser Cutting Machine.
The Bystronic ByStar 10kw Fiber Laser Cutter and ByTrans Machine were added to replace the old ByLaser 3300 allowing us to cut a wider range of materials and thicknesses.
To include additional storage facilities for our sheet metal stock.
Work on the new building began to house a new machine shop and all new offices.
The Walther Trowal CD400 Rumbling Machine and the G200 Maze Dryer were added to our range of deburring services.

Once the exterior of the building was completed we went to work adding in a second floor for the offices and plastering downstairs to make way for our all new machine shop.
Including both CNC Turning and Milling machines. Our range of machines includes the Doosan Puma 2600 SY II, The Doosan Lynx 2100 A, The Doosan DNM 6700 and a 4th axis version aswell as the Knuth VHF 3.2 manual milling machine.
The Loewer 4TD-1500 and the 2TD-500 deburring machines were installed to increase our deburring capabilities.
The Loewer 3 stage wet sanding machine was added to our list of finishing services available.
After completing work on the main building we started work on our new state of the art offices.
We moved into our newly built offices at our location in Kirkby Malzeard, North Yorkshire.
We installed a brand new Haeger 824 MSP 5e insertion machine adding to the list of services we offer in-house.
